The interchange would be with the C&O or Chessie System (I'm too young to remember when that change happened) and/or with the EJ&E. Both of those roads went off that direction. The Grand Trunk cut across here as well, but I don't know how the track arrangement worked to interchange with them. Downtown is just behind this point of view with Broad Street crossing over 11 tracks all at the same place. Kept a lot of railroaders busy maintaining that complex interchange!
