The lower black colored portion of the cut lever is as built by General Electric. The white cut lever parts and the connecting links are as modified to allow for operation from the step wells, which is safer for crew men. The white crab irons just below the cut lever were for employees to use when the pilot still had foot boards and the lower part of the cut lever was in use as built. The chain and ring hanging below the bottom edge of the walkway was to support the MU cable when it was semi-permanently mounted to the unit.
