Small town Catlettsburg is the county seat of Boyd County, not the much larger town of Ashland, Kentucky, as one might expect. At one time shortly after the start up of Amtrak, there was a small Amtrak depot in Catlettsburg, but an old C & O freight station in Ashland was renovated and made into a combination Amtrak and Greyhound facility. This did not work well for Greyhound, and the hound moved out.
