Also take note that this is the first time the train has had a matching consist with the newly painted combine.

It's not really a new nose. All they did was remove the outer fiberglass shell. The underside has always been angular like that. You just normally wouldn't see it. It was probably too expensive to have someone fabricate a new fiberglass shell, so they simply painted the metal part.

Well, I can't blame them for not buying a new nose. The Piedmont hits a car at least once a month and tears up the fiberglass all the time. I imagine that does get expensive.
