I know this bridge a little too well. Back in the late 90's I was inspecting it only to get nailed by not one, but two, groups of wasps that had taken up residence in the bridge. Though I don't recall which end of the bridge I was on, one of the nests was in decayed post in the first bent next to the truss span. It may very well be the bent directly below the front of the loco in this photo.
