It's about time they had a metro in Dubai. I was there in March 2007 when they were building it, and it was a hostile environment for the pedestrian, trying to navigate twelve-lane highways!

Now Dubai is almost bust. They owe billions, cannot sell the houses and apartments that have been built. It remains to be seen whether they will build anymore extensions to the metro.

A few years ago ventured into that same area of Dubai via their very slow and very crowded bus system. The Metro is certainly a great improvement and will also help to improve their economy as has occurred in many other cities around the world upon completion of a new metro system.
