Interesting I have taken photos all over the Metro never had a problem. I even asked and they said it is OK as long as there are no tripods.

According to WMATA, you are within your right to take photos in stations as long as you don't point flashes at the cab or, yes, use a tripod. A lot of station managers are ill informed of this however.

Unless it is for something related to post 9/11 security concerns I don't understand why they would not want anyone using a tripod. Good work Shane.

The tripod issue comes from a lawsuit where a Metro customer tripped over a tripod and sued WMATA over it. You just can't fix stupid...
