WOW ! THANKS for sharing this one. Wish I could have been there. Interesting detail how the paint on the baggage cart matches the baggage car perfectly. Good example of someone at SP's attention to detail., back when they still CARED. I had only ever seen B&W photos of these carts before, in which the red and yellow come out the same shade of gray.

Nice to see that John got out to my neck of the woods. Wonderful picture in a classic location of a train that I rode often as a kid. I remember my grandfather who had been general yardmaster here taking me to Mission Bay roundhouse during the last days of steam, but he was more interested in the beautiful new daylight PA's than the steam engines.

In the distance, you can see the light towers at Seals Stadium. A week after this photo was taken, the Seals will play their last home game ever. The following April, a new team will begin play in San Francisco at Seals Stadium - the major league Giants. Today, the Giants play across the street from where this station stood.
