At 1500 hp per unit, the 9000 hp assembled here is only a bit more than Amtrak uses to haul the Southwest Chief today - typically two P42DC's. This size power set was typical for the ATSF on the Super Chief/El Capitan, and it was a larger train than the Southwest Chief.
