Interesting shot Kevin. Give up a runby and gain a news photo, I suppose. I'm glad the railroad, railfans in general and John were able to get some positive media exposure!

I guess I will have to start watching the CBS Evening News now. Anyone have any details on a better air date?

OSHA ought to go after CBS for this blatant violation of common sense!

Definitely lacking in some common sense, though I must admit, that would be an awesome ride, right up until the first low bridge/tunnel.

Sometimes you just got to hang it out there for the shot. Or maybe the cameraman was just trying to get away from Katie Couric.

Thanks for posting this shot, Kevin. There are "other" ways for a cinematographer to get this shot. He chose to do it hand-held, probably because he was there and only equipped to shoot the "news of the day." I'm sure he was working against the clock, and lacking the proper rigging. In this case you've got to give him credit for going above and beyond the call in order to get the shot.

Don't worry so much; there was a supervisor on hand, and, if you notice, the photographer had his feet inside of the locomotive cab through that roof vent.
