Wholly Smokes! Phenomenal photo there, Tom! Beyond creative, a modern day Western Maryland steam train gem. I regret I have but one PC to give you.

If there was ever a photo on Railpictures.net that didn't need its remarks emboldened or italicized, this is definitely it. A wonderful, evocative capture, Tom.

Wow, wonderful shot Tom. You did quite well with setting the shot up, taking the shot, and processing in less than ideal conditions, great job!

Definitely and eerie feeling to this. Really awesome shot.

I rarely post photo comments, but this truly is exceptional! Of all the elevated and/or aerial photos I've seen from you, this one is in a class of it's own. Certainly a PCA vote from me, and a worthy POTW candidate I'd think! It just jumps out at you.

What everyone else said. Easily deserves a PCA and a PotW.

Terrific shot, Tom! At first I thought it was one of those shots posted from China!

Great effort Tom. Definitely worth the early morning hike!

Oh, baby! This reminds those of us old enough to recall steam doing real work what we lost. This is wonderful. I am not one to get up and out so I can see a train at 6AM. I have to be getting paid to be functional at that hour of the day!

A photographic work of art. Amazing.

Hey, I'm probably IN that shot someplace! Seriously, this was some great light and you sure nailed this one! Backlit steam rocks! You can add my PCA too, Tom.

Thrillingly brilliant Tom. A shot any photographer of any era would be proud of. PCA from me.

Tom,
I thought this was yet another shot from some photo charter to China. I was pleasantly surprised to see that you can get good shots by getting up early in the AM in the states too. Excellent work!

Simply the best photo I've ever seen on the Western Maryland Scenic. Agreed that I thought it was from China upon first glance.

A superb photo in so many ways; love the dark foreground, bright/light plume, and medium toned and distant valley side, and then the outline (and touch of detail) of the building on the left.

I may be the last of a long list to say so, but that is one really fine photograph.
