After the merger with the GM&O in 1972, ICG tried its best to assemble some of the most memorable and unusual locomotive consists of all time. One never knew if a train would be powered by a solid GM&O locomotive consist, or a train with a variety of rebuilt (and non-rebuilt) first generation power. Although many of the Green Diamond-painted Geeps had been either rebuilt or retired, a few were still earning their keep well into the 1980s. The Paducah remanufactured GP8 and GP10 locomotives had a very memorable sound (due to the Electro-Motive 16-cylinder, 567BC/C-series diesel engine and the Missouri Pacific-pioneered four-stack, "liberated exhaust" manifold). As always, thanks for sharing Dan.
