I grew up alongside the "Main Line of Mid-America" and witnessed much of the ever-changing scene from our house, which was located approximately 250 feet from the double-tracked, north-south mainline. The period from the early 1970s to the late 1980s was quite an interesting time on the IC/ICG. 'Green Diamonds' and former Gulf, Mobile & Ohio locomotives were quite common, many lasting essentially 'untouched' into the 1980s. Many of the ICRR SW7/SW9 locomotives were shipped north to Paducah for inclusion into ICG's SW14 Capital Rebuild Program. Thanks for sharing these classic GM&O/IC/ICG images Dan. Well done!
