Well now that is interesting! At least when BNSF works with NS and they have ex-Conrail units it will be right at home. Cool picture and thank you for posting this.

I am not sure if it is true for BNSF, but I know on NS we are in need for 4 axle power. Smaller trains means they can be pulled with smaller locomotives.

I assume the built-out windshield, to accommodate a walk-around control stand for bidirectional use, makes this a Pennsylvania-Reading-Seashore Lines original. Nice catch of a unique unit, in several ways, on the point, in great light!
