It may have been only a matter of a year of regular operation before the East Broad Top might have considered diesels. If it had lasted that long, then they may have bought this very design, or a single engine DL-535 from Alco, or a G8 from EMD. You never know, it was indeed that close to happening. Instead, they closed it down and Nick Kovalchick went on to preserve this historic railroad.
