Just a few months prior to my first visit ever to the Steel City... great piece of history there, J.

We seldom get to see pictures where the train is just one equal part of an overall scene. It says Pittsburgh mid '70's when the Pirates were a force to be reckoned with, the Steelers were out and out feared and the Pens (sorry) stunk.

What a jumble...yet it works! Nice shot J.

What a great photo! It truly captures the look and feel of the time without the train getting lost in the scene. Very well done.

Wow, what a clear shot! Thanks for posting. Being a little more than 2 years old at the time, this gives me a new perspective of an important corner of my hometown. Thanks!

Well, let's see; the Grayhound bus station has been torn down and replaced, the convention center (second one now) now occupies the open area to the left of the tracks where all the cars are parked, the AVRR bridge over 11th Street (visible in the distance under the bridge carrying the Conrail engines over 11th Street) was torn out in the 90's, that open auto rack is history....and is that a Yugo I see there? Maybe not but who cares, great shot. Thank you.

What a great photo in a dense, urban setting. Great job of capturing the entire scene, and not just the train.

Great shot! I love how you get to see the "busy streets" while not loosing the train doing its job in the back ground. As far as the Yugo I think what you are looking at is the bright green Volkswagen Rabbit. My eyes got drawn to that right away well ok after the train. I couldn’t help it because I use to own a red rabbit!

WOAH! This scene doesn't even remotely look the same today.
