The angle of this Locomotive is what some schools of photography consider the best one. The image is a complete study of the side detail (look at all of those Cal-scale and Sydam castings). The framing in the background adds unity to the composition and draws the eye in to look at everything. I will miss this pacific. I saw it in person up at F. Nelson Blount's Steamtown in Vermont. I look forward to B&M Pacific 3713. I visited it frequently when it was beside the Museum of Science in Boston. In 1958 Athearn produced a well detailed plastic model of 3713 with a spastic rubber band drive. This B&M pacific and the NKP Berkshire were side by side at the original location of Steamtown. Nice job Mitch.

I too will miss the 2317 when she goes down. She was one of the first "large" steam engines I saw as a kid, and I fear that once che goes down this year, she may not ever turn a wheel under her own power again. I am just glad that over the 25 year she has run in Scranton, I have accumulated tons of photos and hours of video of her. Nice shot Mitch and thanks 2317 for the years of service!
