Paint quality is a victim of the environmentalist movement. BNSF and many other railroads would love to have longer lasting paint pigments, but they cannot be manufactured any more, as the delicate planet will be harmed by the paint!

Thank you for your comment. It affects all of us. The screeners keep wanting to reject my photos because of bad color (!), but I try to tell them that, at least in terms of locomotive paint, the color is beyond my control. Apparently the railroads', too! Ah, for the good ol' days, eh?
