I knew from the thumbnail it was Thurmond. Very nice mood shot made interesting by the station's paint job. Is that an authentic shade? I doubt the denizens of Thurmond's hell-raising era would recognize the place being so "purty and all"!

The scenery is just beautiful, though that bridge seems rather large for a branch line.

I'm not sure about the original colours but judging from other stations in the area such as Durbin and the former Marlinton station the colour seems to follow a definate pattern. After spending all the money they did I would think it was done to match C&O practice. I was told the line to the right leads to a coal mine, hence the heavy bridge.

Now, IF ONLY somebody would open a "bunkhouse" B&B on the second floor, so there was somewhere to stay in Thurmond.
