What is the speed through here? Those tracks look pretty dangerous.

The distance seems to be compressed by the photo. Just like a telephoto lens will make minor dips and grades look steeper than they actually are, it will also do the same with track conditions.

It's 25 mph from Orange to Gordonsville on this section of BBRR-leased territory, which, if I am not mistakened, actually is owned by Norfolk Southern!
