Please note that this particular SEPTA unit is an ALP44, the NJTransit, ASEA-built version, of Amtrak's EMD-built AEM7, whereas the earlier ones look like Amtrak's own locomotives. Note the differences in the vents along the locomotive's upper sides. SEPTA got a "free" locomotive from ASEA, (added to an NJT contract,) as compensation for cost overruns and late delivery penalties incurred with new cars ASEA delivered for the Norristown high-speed line.
