In Maine, I bribe them with lobsters... seems to work better than cash. ;-)

The hostler probably did not want to chance slipping and possibly falling in all the oil that's running over the walkway and down the side sill. Safety First, photographers wishes, last.

Personally I think the open hood door makes the photo more interesting.

It was $15. I remember thinking; no fish lunch from the "Fish King" was a good trade-off for a closed door. Oh, well; had my fried fish lunch anyway.

For $15 I'll shut that door in Photoshop for you ;-)

Great story Barry! LOL, yes today P-shop solves so many photo "distractions" and aside from time, it really doesn't cost anything! Keep these SP roster slide scans a coming!

I agree.... at the time a pain, but two deades later, a great story, and the open doors don't bother me one iota... in fact, I like 'em better because of the yarn.

I agree! Another Open Door photo, of which I have many. But with the story, it is an even better photograph! Keep 'em coming!

Does anyone know why this U33C was rated at 3000 horsepower, instead of 3300 horsepower? I saw it passing through Yuma in December 1987 and noticed the 3000 horsepower marking and Pine Bluff assignment. You can see the "3000 HP" to the right of Pine Bluff on the right bottom edge of the cab.
