SP Geeps on the old (removed) Donner Mainline in risky puffy cloud skies lighting? To things here you'll never see again so I say it was worth the wait!

Considering what's seen today, you're still ahead of the game. Nice piece of history there and great photo.

I know what you mean about Clifton Forge. In the mean time you got a wicked shot of SP geeps. I have taken the California Zepher to Truckee several times and have not had a meet with anything westbound. Always take something to read in case you go to a hot spot on an off day.

I just shot a train coming out of that tunnel about ten days ago. That spot sure looks different now. Nice catch, Sid!

Sorry about the jinx. I seem to have my share of it too. August of '07, I drove from AZ to the Powder River Basin. First day, typical PRB, trains from horizon to horizon and even three passing each other a few times! Second day, 3 trains in 8 hours! No derailments, no visible maintenance, no scanner traffic. PRB, quiet !? Anyway, your wait paid off with a beautiful picture. Hope you also got a pic of that C40-? cupola caboose bringing up the rear that you'll be posting soon.

Nice catch here! I had the same problem with the old C&O main- nothing moving but buzzing insects. The best bet was one of the steam specials.
