Imagine if every one of those containers were also a truck on I-40! Yes, the railroads are keeping a lot of freight of the nation's highways. (And, keep in mind that a lot of the trucks on the highway are not LA to Chicago traffic, but freight heading from, say, Las Vegas to Albuquerque. Unlike "conventional" freights of the past, double-stacks are not meant to be switched out at various points along the way.)
