Wow, Tom, you certainly captured the challenge this grade presented. Perhaps the best thing I've seen from the diesel area. Railroads and railroaders seem to have lost something since those days.

Wow, Tom, what an awesome shot!! My only visit to this line was after NS moth-balled it and the rails were already coated with a thick layer of rust. I sure do wish I could have seen it in operation like this! I do hope you'll consider sharing more photos from Saluda with us?

Tom, hands down one of the best shots on RP. It is the definitive SD45 shot, Southern Railway shot, mountain railroading shot, American railroading shot all in one.
