Nice shot Rich. Man that paint looked good on those SD70s!

That paint couldn't look anymore sharp! But if you are around the Versailles trestle, there are still remains of the old B&O main through McKeesport sitting in the weeds.

Ian - During the late 70's and early 80's, there was still a considerable amount of local traffic on the old B&O mainline which was then called the Long Run Branch. The US Steel Christy Park Plant, GC Murphys Warehouse and a few other customers contributed to the car loads. Every night, a local from Demmler Yard would come over and work the branch.

I was riding the former B&O Long Run Spur this morning...(Which is now a paved bike path). I couldn't help but to notice while marveling at the CPI plant, that building 12 still has the sign that says "TRACK 12 UNLOAD PIPE" and looking closely the rails are still in place. They recently (Within the last year) have removed the rest of the old B&O mainline tracks that were just rusting away in the weeds...only real "memory" left is the wooden crossing and rails showing through the pot holes of the current crossing on the former ROW. I couldn't help but to also notice a building that happened to look similar to a bakery, and an elevated platform about to the same height as the boxcar doors of that time frame, and there were still rails sitting there! Sad to see what has become of McKeesport, let alone the whole Mon Valley.
