Saw a similar thing at CN's yard in Calgary only it was a boxcar painted in the same colors which was used as a braking car. Had a large air compressor inside which aided in charging up the brake pipe. The guys at the yard said it allows them to haul up to an additional 2 000 feet in extreme cold temperatures.

I've got a better idea for the railroads...forget the containers and boxcars and use modified cabooses for the Distributed Braking!

Is the correct plural cabooses, caboose or cabeese?

Huh, "air repeater cars" have been used before, but I suppose the technology is better now. but why not use a caboose? now you're wasting a well that could be hauling 2-3 containers worth of revenue!

This is not a new concept--Great Northern used air repeater cars in the 60's. This is a new concept to see in a container, however!
