These types of signals are being phased out because of OSHA considerations. Several have been removed on the Seattle Subdivision over the past couple of years, in favor of trackside signals. This isn't to say that overhead signal bridges are a thing of the past, as can be seen along Airport Way in Seattle at Control Points Argo, Bailey, Rhodes and Boeing (to name just a few).
