Wow, that IS a monster of a train! I'd suppose this was one of their 10,000 foot long trains or pretty close to it.

This is a great capture Bryant! I've seen stack trains this long at Winslow and at this spot and they are amazing to watch. They seem to go on forever. I've been wanting to shoot one of these trains but have not had the time to venture up to Flagstaff. In this shot about mid train there are a pair of cross over switches. You can see the switch signals in this picture. They have cross over switches about every five miles on the transcon. They will bring trains to a halt about 200 yards in front of each switch. They cross over a high priority train that's down the line and run on the second track. It will crossing over in at the halted trains. I've seen this a couple of times at this location. The transcon is an amazing operation to watch. The BNSF knows how to run a railroad.
