Wonderful view, Marty. Yep, hard to imagine at this late date that varnish was still pervalent all over the land in so many roadnames. And did those E units ever sound good when they throttled up! Thanks for sharing.

Yes the E units sounded like a GP9 played through a BOSE system The last paint version with the large type was very impressive on E units. Well, the antennas could be conected. Another great one Marty.

Just a little more history. PRR 5766 went on to become PC 4266, based out of Boston, heading up both PC and early Amtrak trains on the NEC runniing Boston - New Haven. After Amtrak did not select 4266 to become part of their fleet, she was conveyed to the MBTA (Masachusetts Bay Transportation Authority) continuing to run mostly on the NEC hauling commuters between Boston & Providence, RI. I got to spend many an enjoyable evening rush hour at South Station Boston watching 4266 come and go among ex-New Haven GP-9s and the D&H Alco PA-4s which were leased to the "T" for a time.
