Ok, I'm guessing that 3751 could pull that load by herself. Are the three Amtrak P42s really necessary for anything other than providing head end power to the rest of the train?

I believe the diesels are there to provide dynamic braking for Miramar hill, electricity for the passenger cars, and help the steam engine conserve water. Its good safety precautions but, it would be more fun and dramatic to see 3751 do it all herself, just glad she's out running real trains.
