The Pennsy shark. The only diesel I ever got a cab ride in - for about 500 feet when I was about 12. In the late 50's & early 60's I spent alot of time after school along the Pennsy mainline just east of Cresson Pa. One afternoon a lone shark unit switched off #1 main track, came around behind MO & stopped just past the switch to the "over head" yard. A crewman climbed down & made a call to maybe the yard office or to MO tower. I started asking some questions & he said would you like a ride? I said sure! They had some fun laughing & kidding with me, opened the door to the engine room so I could get a look at the prime mover, then all too soon they said thats all the further I could go. It sure did make a young railfans day tho.
