Looks like the idiot has already been hit once before!

No matter where you go in life, you'll encounter the stupid! Great capture Brent!

It appears the rear occupant has a seat belt on so not too much that can go wrong when you think about it. Besides death. Not a fan of these close call shots but this one is done well and uniquely insane.

I don't see anyone in the engineer's seat...was the train really moving?

Neat shot! But it almost looks like that may be pushers going the other directions...?

I'm sure wherever the soccer mom had to go it was very important and worth risking everybody's life in the van. People are so dumb!

I don't think its pushers. The headlights on. Not only that but you can tell that the ditch lights are going. The right one is brighter than the left.

The ditch lights appear to be oscillating, meaning they would indeed be moving towards the crossing. That's way too close for my liking...

Stupid car drivers! Whether who will be stronger?

"I don't see anyone in the engineer's seat...was the train really moving?" Maybe the crew ducked to keep from seeing people die?

What a surprise, it's a minivan with old battle scars. All I can offer is it must be a low speed track area since the crossing isn't lighted. Still stupid though.

If you take a close look you can see the engineer. There is just a sliver of light between his head & the darker inner portion of the cab...and you can see the ditch light on the right side of the picture is brighter than the one on the left. I like these photo's, it really shows the danger these rocket scientists put everyone in.

If the train was moving at all, it couldn't have been going to fast, this crossing has crossbucks only, no gates. Also, there is a lot more room between the van and the engine then you think. Take a look at the coal cars, see how small they appear, how many of those do you think could fit between the engine and the van? 3 or 4? Thats at least 200 feet.

This is a nicely composed photo designed to make the viewer think the train is alot closer than it really is. As for the crossing this is a situation where if there isn't very much train traffic and officials don't think it deserves to be lighted at least then it should have a stop sign for vehicles before crossing the tracks. The trains maximum speed through this section of track might only be 4 or 5 mph.
