I remember getting a picture of this locomotive in Michigan in 1982 as C&NW 4251

I had almost forgotten this Southern Railway oddity. I only saw and photographed this once. If this locomotive ever went north of Danville, Kentucky. I am not aware of it. I believe the Carolina & Northwestern reporting marks were C & N, so as to be different from Chicago & North Western, C & N W. Thanks to Mr. Scott for this historic post.
