Wind blew it down! not a stump. I saw it on the news.

Westminster Police say an officer was called out to the train tracks around 8:30 p.m. on Monday because someone noticed the tree stump on the tracks. The officer removed the tree trunk, but investigators believe that someone then put that stump back on the track. "We're convinced, as are Westminster Police, that the stump was placed on the track intentionally," said Steve Forsberg with BNSF.

If you note other photo's this is a multiple engine & car derailment. Unless it was a tornado it would be impossible for this to have been wind. Great photo Pinlifter.

I found this on the web then saw the picture. WESTMINSTER, Colo. (AP) - Railroad officials now say it was a tree stump purposely left on tracks that derailed four locomotives and 16 cars of a freight train. BNSF officials were offering a $10,000 reward for information of those responsible. BNSF spokesman Steve Forsberg didn't know the exact size of the stump but said it would have required at least two people to move it. Forsberg said Tuesday the stump got caught on a switch on the tracks, causing the first of 4 locomotives to lift up, triggering the derailment. The train carrying lumber and building materials jumped the tracks about 10:35 p.m. Monday. The train contained four locomotives and 37 rail cars. Three crew members were aboard when the derailment occurred. One was transported to a hospital with minor injuries.

Instead of a tornado or a stump, maybe this loco just thinks it's a dirt bike making a REALLY fast RH turn...
