The next time they say you can't take pictures show them the Photographer's Rights law, it's gotten me out of security trouble before.

Nice shot John. A definite A+ for effort!

First off, a big thanks to George Hamlin for taking the original photo here. I wouldn't have known about this if not for him. I figured rather than raise a stink about it, just take the picture and leave. I was going to shoot that and the northbound Rail Runner passing the semaphore opposite that one. The officer had no problem with me shooting this picture and leaving. He called the village, however, and asked if I could take the picture of the Rail Runner after I mentioned I was going to do that. They told him to tell me to get lost. My thought is their land, their rules. However, I assume if I had gone within the 15ft boundry, then, I would have been on railroad property. Then what?

I have come to find out the railroad has an easement with the natives. It's all their land. Okay, done. I would ask that we don't make a big deal over this. The officer and I thanked each other, shook hands, and left. No confrontation.

I used to live in Albuquerque, and I remember seeing Santa Fe freights going past those semaphores. I sure am glad that they are still there, and I do miss them and the Santa Fe.
