A little touch up paint here and there, reinstall the fuel tank and it looks like it would be ready to go again:)

I wonder if the horn is still intact? You can see it near the right exhaust fan.

This is a very hard photo to look at. Two very fine southern gentlemen died on that unit. Engineer Dennis Vinson and Conductor AJ (Tony) Mills were riding in that unit when it collided with a gasoline tanker truck at only 10 MPH in Chalmette, LA on June 25th of 2004. They had both bailed off the unit but were doused in gasoline when the tank truck ruptured and simply could not get away fast enough. By the grace of god, their brakeman survived unscathed. Dennis & Tony were both 58 years old with 30+ years "serving the south". I was a young trainmaster supervising them out of Oliver Yard in New Orleans a couple years prior to this incident and I worked with these guys everyday. At the time of the accident I was working for the UP, but was on vacation when the NS trainmaster called me to telly me the news. Like 9-11 it is a day I will never forget. I learned a great deal about railroading from them, and they will always be remembered........

It is so sad that they both dies. I will keep them and their family in my thoughts and prayers. But on the brighter side, good picture Batman.
