Classic. I have that engine in N-Gauge too! Good think the 611 wasn't blue!

Great picture of an old historic location. The third track and siding closest to the viewer and the concrete platform between the main and siding are now long gone and the train station has been ronovated. It's great to see a location I see most everyday at a time before I was even born and how different it looks back then from how it looks now. Great shot. Thanks!

This train (41 and 42) had ceased to operate through to New Orleans in March/April of the previous year (1969), so this was how the old "Pelican" looked in its final year or so of operation. By then, it was just a Bristol-Washington operation (N&W Bristol to Monroe, VA, and SR from there to DC). The nightly Washington-Birmingham "Birmingham Special" (17 and 18) was still running through at this time, however (with Southern power all the way).

Wow! What a great photo! Let's see more!! Got any photos of Bristol's Appalachia Division Yard in the 60's and 70's?
