I've never seen Conrail units with those markings and that shade of blue. Do they always get a police escort through town? Nice Johnny on the spot!

It appears that the police are blocking the crossing. If they were impatient and making a U-turn, I doubt their front wheels would be turned to the right.

That is correct. Since none of the crossings have lights or gates, the police show up and block the crossing. Since this was the last engine on the rear of the train, the police car was getting ready to leave.

The Police Escort is cool, but i am pretty sure that they are going to be putting in gates and signals soon enough. This crossing is used to often now.
