Wow, I was looking at that unit at LaSalle Street Station when the engineer invited us up into the cab. That was the biggest cab on the inside, you could have put a sofa behind the engineer and fireman.

This unit got the fresh paint because it was the 5th or 6th unit in the wreck at Montgomery in Sept, 1964.

I rode behind this unit on commuter that ran on the back road. If I had know it was in a wreck I would have appreciated the new paint better. Most Rock Island power at this time was wearing faded maroon. If I could rewind to the 60’s I would have spent a lot more time in Chicago.
