For your passenger car notebooks: The coach just this side of the dome car was built for the Minneapolis & St. Louis and was originally used behind gas-electric cars. Replaced by customized Budd RDC4s, which had limited passenger seating, it was sold to the Rock Island, and eventually acquired by the Rio Grande. The dome was a Northern Pacific sleeper-dome, which was a slab-sided, painted car (for the North Coast Limited) when built. Rio Grande added the Budd fluting below the windows when it refurbished the car. The car closest to the camera is open-platform office car Wilson McCarthy, coverted from a P-S-built 52-seat coach.
