When the Santa Fe removed all traffic from its Pasadena Sub, the line was purchased by the local transit agency, and it now hosts Gold Line light rail trains operating between Los Angeles Union Passenger Terminal and Pasadena. For that project, the single track, through truss bridge, which once hosted the Super Chief, El Capitan, et al, was removed and replaced by a double track, concrete structure. Thanks for the nostalgic look, Richard.

They only removed it from that section, the former Santa Fe (now Metrolink owned) Pasadena Sub still sees a a lot of freight on the east end, which ends in Arcadia just before the point where it used to cross the 210 freeway. The new Foothill Extension of the Gold Line will follow that track and the 210 Freeway from Pasadena to Montclair, serving the cities of Arcadia, Monrovia, Duarte, Irwindale, Azusa, Glendora, San Dimas, Claremont and Montclair- http://www.metrogoldline.org/index2.html
