Sweet shot, Craig! Most (if not all) of the 7,000 series CN geeps are set up this way, short hood chopped but LHF running. My supposition would be that because they're mostly used in yard service, it gives the crew a better view of their work. Then again, it could be because CN was just too cheap to complete the conversion although I believe the 4,000 series was all converted to SHF.
