These units were delivered to the CNJ RR during the last week of December 1968 as model GP40P units. The roster of 13 locomotives were in the CNJ RR 3671-3683 number series. The units were overhauled by Conrail's Juniata Locomotive shop in 1991 and subsquently reclassified as GP40PH-2 units due to their upgraded electrical components.
