This equipment is leased from Altamont Commuter Express (ACE) in Stockton, CA. The original plan was that ACE was to order cars to Metrolink's specification, Metrolink would lease Surpluss equipment until it was needed by ACE, or purchase the entire fleet if ACE failed. Obviously ACE is doing well since Metrolink is just leasing the three Surpluss cars from the fleet.
