Good work on catching the action.

Normally all empty hopper trains go west out of Roanoke back to the coal fields. On this day, there was a problem on the NS Lake Division, so some traffic out of Roanoke was re-routed. This train went east, north and then west. Also the caboose in the photo attached to the SD40-2 6123 is in active service for local work. One of its main jobs is working the FreightCar America Assembly plant in the former Roanoke Car Shops. This cab is used as a platform for backward movements to get the new hoppers and gons out of the shop and into this yard as well as other local moves.
