Everyone--John wanted me to pass this additional info. The train in the picture being switched out is most likely the Liberty Limited-eastbound for DC. Also, the train John rode on that day from Newark to Altoona was powered by PRR 4999, a 4-8-4 electric class R-1 (with the rigid wheelbase), instead of the usual GG1. There are several more scenes from Harrisburg on that day seen on pages 47 & 48 of "The Pennsy in the 1950's, The Last Great Decade", published by the PRRT&HS. John appreciates all the feedback and attention he's getting for his photographs on RP.net.

Great photo. This is one of those shots that shows the human element of railroading. I'm glad those guys WERE in the shot.
