Great photo Jeff. I'm sure it will be a great feature to the city. But, is it me or does the sight of seeing such wonderful railroad history off the rails for good seem a bit of a loss? How great it would be to see them on the end of a private varnish train someday!

I wouldn't count on it becoming much of anything anytime soon. They were slated to become a floating restaurant over the seven years they spent lingering in Erie, but never did. So I don't know what may become of them.

These two cars have spent about 6 years in Erie, PA. According to Web Luker's Vista Dome page, these railcars were stored aboard the ex-GTW ferry Lansdowne (although it doesn't specify when). The ferry and the railcars had been purchased by the city of Detroit which permanently placed the railcars on the ferry. In Detroit it served as a club-restaurant-lounge type of operation until it went out of business. At some point it was moved to Bufallo, NY. In 2000 they moved it to Erie, PA where it was supposed to become a restaaurant but never opened. Now it has been moved to Buffalo, NY.
