Nice old and new photo Ray! Really loved the new (last) solid red image - my favorite of the SOO schemes. IIRC, the 410 was the one and only high nose old generation Geep to get the "Candy Apple" red repaint treatment. The other oldie unit to go all red was the 1204, a SW9. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the comments Ryan, the only other red GP9 I know of is this chopped nose unit which was also assigned for a while to Davenport, IA. (Nahant).

The yard wasn't underwater????????? When were the floods on the Mississippi in 93'? Nice shot Ray.....

Ian, yes the yard was under water, I believe it was April. For sure, road access in and out was flooded. I remember them using a flatbottom boat to get to the yard office as the roads in and out were OOS. Thing is, the Upper Mississippi River Valley (generally speaking) flooded in different spots throughout the year starting in April and continuing into July. That meant some areas were flooded early and detoured around, and then later served as a river crossing when another spot on the river was flooded. The rampaging Mississippi (and Missouri) threatened to keep UP 3985 from coming in from Cheyenne for the NRHS Convention in Chi. When I posted this pic I hadn't even thought about the flood season that year even though it looks like another downpour is in the making...
