Amazing how that orange fades, the air-conditioning unit behind the cab is the original locomotive color! Note that the second unit, a GP39M, is an ex-Southern Railway high-hood GP30, chop-nosed and refitted with an EMD "spartan" cab.

Great shot, it´s a indeed a interesting consist. It´s amazing how some of those engines fade. Some of the warbonnets still look like they where painted yesterday, and then you see this.

I wonder what kind of warranty railroads get as far as paint jobs go. BNSF units look so nasty when their paint fades.

I just found out from an employee at GE that the ones that are fading were outsourced to another company because GE was too busy with a record year and couldn't keep up with the painting, that was 1999.
